How This New Pool Pump Legislation Could Affect You
Over the last few years, we’ve seen some stunning swimming pool designs in all sizes, shapes, and styles that have caught the imagination. These designs have created the perfect ambiance for summertime pool parties.
However, the attention has now shifted towards designing more energy-efficient pools to comply with the latest legislation of the California Department of Energy (DOE). The DOE has stated that new swimming pools have to be fitted with variable speed pool (VSP) pumps.
Consequently, the rule will come into effect from June, and all new swimming pools will have the VSP pumps included. However, old swimming pools will need to be upgraded with the new requirements if and when the old pump needs replacing.
While it will be an added expense to upgrade, it will allow the pool owner to save considerable money on energy bills in the long term due to a reduction in electricity consumption.
While there is still time to upgrade to the new design, we recommend that you go ahead and upgrade now, as it will make your home more energy-efficient.
